Flack drummed his fingers against the edge of his desk, exhaling slowly through his mouth as he waited for ESPN.com to load. The vic in this case had picked a really bad time to have his body be found—namely an hour before kickoff of the opening game of the Giants footballs season. He really should be working, trying to run down the names and the alibis of the various witnesses that he had talked to earlier regarding the case, but he was a multitasker, and a Giants fan, and there was no way he was missing the opening game of the season.
Especially after last year’s Superbowl win.
He waited what he deemed very patiently while the page loaded, and he scanned it eagerly, searching for any kind of score that would let him know how the game was going, and then waited very patiently again while page where they were keeping tabs on the game live loaded for him to see. As soon as that was all in place, he quickly opened another window and went back to doing what he needed to do. He would be checking back there every five minutes or so, but other than that he was all business. And the team was winning. Which was always going to make his day a little brighter.
He was working his way through the pile of witness statements in front of him, when he felt his cell phone vibrate against his hip. Knowing that it was Mac checking in for some kind of update on progress, he sighed heavily and placed the phone to his ear, not even bothering to check the caller ID.
