laws_of_dawes used without permission but lots of love. She said flying solo, but Flack wound up wanting Rachel in it anyway. Hope you don’t mind! Not binding on any other canon characters, nor any particular storyline.]
“That defense attorney is pissing me off.”
“Easy, Detective,” Rachel smirked. “I haven’t lost this case yet.”
“Not saying you have,” Flack shook his head, sitting down on the bench next to the court room, burying his face in his hands. “He’s tryin’ to turn this on Danny? He must be desperate for something if he thinks that’s going to get him anywhere.”
“Danny isn’t exactly your model cop, Flack.”
“Emotionally, yeah. But when it comes to a scene, he follows everything to the letter. You don’t get someone more solid than that.”
“I know. I know. I wouldn’t have put him on the stand if I didn’t think he was solid. Trust me a little.”
Flack sighed slightly, crossing his arms in front of his chest. “We can’t lose this case, Rachel. Not after everything we went through to actually get this guy.” Hawkes was still recovering from what this guy had done to him, and Flack wasn’t so inclined to let this case go quite yet.
“I know.” Rachel gave him a firm look, placing her hand on her hip. “Flack. He got you on cross, but I fixed it on redirect. We’ll get this guy. Trust me, and stop bitching about it.”
Flack pouted slightly, before crossing his arms in front of his chest. “Alright, alright, I get it.”
“Good.”
“Just—”
“Win the case.” She rolled her eyes slightly. “I got it.”
He smirked slightly at that, before nodding and leaning back in the seat. “Good.”
