[JMM] Andy Rooney quote
[Lindsay is

foundherwings. Set during 408: Buzzkill.]
“If you smile when no one else is around, you really mean it.”
He should have never given her that lollipop.
It’s had been cute at the time, one of those spur of the moment, slightly dorky things he tended to do when she was around, but now he was seriously starting to regret it. Mostly because his mind was going places it really shouldn’t be going on the job. Especially not about her. As far as he knew, that was Danny’s girl, and he needed to keep his distance, but, well, he was a guy. She was a pretty girl. And that was a lollipop.
He allowed the lollipop to justify why he was paying attention to her in the beginning—what male didn’t pay attention to a woman they considered attractive sucking on a lollipop?—but when he continued staring at her, even after the lollipop was gone, he knew he had a problem, because it really was more than just him finding her attractive. He liked her. He liked her a lot, and that was only bound to cause problems. Problems beyond the fact that he worked with her, or the fact that she was Danny’s girl. Didn’t stop, however, him from looking. He was starting to think at this point that maybe he really was a masochist, always reaching for the girl he couldn’t have.
Lindsay was across the room, talking with one of the other cops with a smile on her face, and he was watching, yet again. Or, at least, he was until he felt the smack! of a manila folder hitting him on the shoulder, trying to get his attention. He jumped at the sensation, before turning to see Angell standing next to him.
“You alright, Flack?”
“Me?” Flack shook it off. “I’m fine. Why?”
“Because you were standing there with a stupid looking smile on your face.” She raised an eyebrow at him before continuing. “You still got your head on straight, or is this somethin’ I need to worry about?”
“Nah, I’m good,” Flack replied with a snort. “Just—got distracted.”
“Uh-huh.” She looked him over again, before shaking her head. “Stop thinkin’ about food on the job, then. Somebody could get hurt that way.”
“Yeah,” Flack nodded, glancing back sheepishly over at Lindsay as Angell walked away, not bothering to wait for a response. “Yeah, I’ll do that.”
