Flack’s keys hit the counter in the kitchen as he spotted his teenage daughter looking over the morning newspaper. It was a strange scene as Haley, generally speaking, didn’t read. She read when she have to, and she read music, but reading with no clear purpose in mind? Not her thing. Especially when it came to the news. So seeing her bent over a newspaper was an anomaly to say the least, and he tilted his head to the side slightly, before deciding to respond.
“Anything interesting going on the world?”
Haley looked up at the voice, running a hand through her hair, before shrugging slightly. “To hell if I know.” She caught the look her father was giving her at the language before rolling her eyes. “You know I don’t do news.”
“Yeah, well—you’re the one with the newspaper in front of you.”
There was a pause, before she flipped the section she was reading closed, and held it up for him to see. “Classifieds. I’m looking for a job.”
