flack: (flack annoyed)
"There cannot be a crisis next week. My schedule is already full."

“You gotta be kidding me.”

Maka just smirked back at him, before handing off the file in her hand. “Don’t look at me—I’m off the clock.”

Flack ran a hand over his face, before looking down at the pile of folders and cases in front of him. “I thought I was being desked for the evening. I don’t have time for another case.”

“Well, too bad, Flack,” she sighed, before starting to walk away. “Don’t you know that murder doesn’t sleep?”

Flack rolled his eyes slightly before looking back at her. “Can’t you take it?”

“Didn’t you hear what I said?” Maka turned back to him, arms crossing in front of her chest. “I’m off the clock.”

“You’ve been off the clock for what, five minutes?” He glanced down at his watch, before looking back at her. “Hop back on, put in some overtime, and save me from an early grave?”

“Sorry, Flack,” she said with a smirk. “I got plans.”

“Plans,” he sighed, looking down at the file. “Your plans are more important than my wellbeing? Thanks a lot, Maka. Nice to know you care.”

“Aww, would you relax?” she sighed, rolling her eyes. “One more case isn’t going to kill you. And from the looks of things, it’s pretty much open and shut.”

Flack crossed his arms in front of his chest, and his eyes narrowed. “You read the case file, and you still won’t take it?”

“What can I say, I was curious.”

“Now, see—if I didn’t know any better—”

“You’d think that I purposefully waited until after I had clocked out to check dispatch for any pending cases, and then handed it off to you just to annoy you?” she began, flashing him a look of mock innocence. “Now, Flack. I have no idea where you got this wild imagination of yours.”

“Uh-huh,” Flack said, giving her a look. “Get out of here before I kick your ass.”

“Better get moving,” she teased, before turning on her heel and walking out the door. “You know how Mac feels when he gets to the scene before the plainclothes does.”

Flack just watched her walk away, before reaching for his suit jacket and following her out the door. “Some days, I really, really hate that woman.”
